OTHELLO - Police tracked down an Othello man recently who allegedly is responsible for a string of burglaries in the Othello area the past month.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office had been investigating the burglaries where several thousands of dollars worth of property was stolen since the beginning of June. In one of the burglaries, a credit card was stolen and used to purchase items at local businesses and police identified John Monday, 27, as the primary suspect, according to information released Thursday.

On June 11, a search warrant was issued at Monday's home on South Canal Road. Deputies reportedly found a 24-foot travel trailer stolen from Montana at the home. A credit card belonging to a victim in one of the burglaries was found inside the trailer, according to the sheriff's office. Monday was not on scene at the time.

The next day, the sheriff's office received information Monday was heading to Ritzville to pick up his girlfriend who was just released from jail. Along with the State Patrol, the vehicle was stopped on West First Avenue near Interstate 90 and Monday was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant was granted for Monday's vehicle and police allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside, according to the sheriff's office.

Monday, who has a lengthy criminal history, is currently booked in Adams County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of an access device, theft and possession of methamphetamine. He also had an Adams County warrant and a state Department of Corrections warrant.
