MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District directors are making progress in their search for a new general manager.
The board advertised for the open position and began accepting applications in April. Board director Ron Covey said the board went through each of the applicant's qualifications and began interviewing those who met their criteria, he said. Covey said they are currently in the middle of the interview process.
"We hope to have interviews completed by July 30, so we can make a decision," he said.
MLIRD has been without a general manager since Curt Carpenter stepped down from the position in March. In his resignation letter he cited health concerns and strain on his family as reasons for leaving the district.
Carpenter had served as the district's general manager for seven years.
MLIRD administrative assistant Julie Smith has been performing his duties in his absence.
Covey said the board expects to name a new general manager shortly after all of the interviews are finished.
