A 32-year-old Coeur d'Alene woman was hospitalized after her ATV fell down a 30-foot embankment in the Hayden Creek area.

Roseann M. Robinson was operating her ATV on U.S. Forest Service Road 437, near Hayden Creek, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when she lost control and rolled down the embankment, Kootenai County Sheriff's deputies reported.

Robinson and a passenger, her 13-year-old nephew from the Los Angeles area, were both hurt in the crash. She was transported by Life Flight to Kootenai Health with serious but non-life threatening injuries, deputies reported. The 13-year-old was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released to another relative.

An initial investigation shows Robinson lost control of the ATV going around a pothole on USFS Road 437, about two miles from USFS Road 206. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and neither Robinson nor her passenger were wearing a helmet.
