POST FALLS - Robert Davis wouldn't leave the apartment until he was informed that a Post Falls Police Department K-9 unit was being deployed.

Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the PFPD received an anonymous tip that Davis, who was wanted for attempted murder and burglary, was at a residential address. Capt. Pat Knight said when officers arrived, Davis, 44, did not want to comply with requests that he leave the residence.

"There was another gentleman in the apartment who told us Davis was in there," Knight said. "It wasn't until they (officers) made the notification that a K-9 unit could come in. As soon as that notification was made, he came out."

Davis was transported to the Kootenai County Public Safety building and charged with burglary and attempted murder in connection with a June 21 incident in Coeur d'Alene. According to the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, the alleged victim said Davis entered her travel trailer - parked in the 100 block of south 23rd Street - around 7 p.m. and attacked her.

"The victim said she fought back but Davis overpowered her and she went unconscious from the strangulation," a press release from the Cd'A Police states. "She said she regained consciousness a few minutes later and was on the ground outside her trailer."

The release added that Davis and the alleged victim are "acquaintances" and the man had been at her trailer earlier in the day.

Davis had his first appearance in Kootenai County District Court on Friday, where a judge set his bail amount at $100,000.
