Donald Lee Herbert, 71, died June 22, 2014.
He was married to Jette Andersen, now deceased.
He is survived by his only son, Paul Herbert.
Don loved life and lived it to its fullest. Don was a great father, husband and friend. Don was an inspiration not only to family but friends as well.
Don was raised in Columbus, Ohio and joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. Don met his late wife and soulmate, Jette Andersen, while stationed in Southern California. They were married and moved to the small mountain town of Julian, California. Don started his career with Pacific Telephone, as well as his family. He later moved the family to Ramona, California and resided there for around eight years. Don then moved the family to Escondido, California where he remained until retirement in 2002. Don worked and retired as a microwave radio technician for Pacific Bell. He was a pioneer in modern communication technology and loved doing his job. Upon retirement, Don and his wife moved to West Glacier. Don purchased the property in the mid-1960s while cutting trails in Glacier National Park prior to meeting his wife. There, they built their retirement dream home where they enjoyed their final years.
Don will surely be missed by all that knew him. He was an amazing human being and all who knew him have been truly blessed.
A private service for friends and family will be held at Don’s residence In mid-August.
A memorial bench will be placed in Glacier National Park in his and his wife’s honor.
