Pledges help SIDS foundation

I am writing to once again thank our beautiful community for their love and support!

Dr. Tom and Dr. Joe Tessendorf of Tessendorf Family Chiropractic collected more than $2,300 in pledges before running Coeur d'Alene Marathon in honor of the Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation. This was our largest donation ever!

The funds raised will be used to support our 100 percent volunteer driven mission of supporting local families who have experienced the death of a child from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and continue our education and awareness outreach efforts.

Many helped with forfeited animals

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office would like thank the numerous volunteers and businesses that assisted in the care of more than 100 animals seized in an abuse investigation that started in January 2014. This case has been adjudicated and the forfeited animals were put up for adoption to the public. We are pleased to say that animals have been adopted out and re-homed.

The following individuals assisted with the transporting, care of and allowed the use of their personnel equipment during the six month period that the Sheriff's Office had to care for the animals. These volunteers were Cheryl Albertson (Hauser Lake), Cody Brand (Hayden), Laura Burrow (Rathdrum), Bill and Rita Crawford (Coeur d'Alene), Colleen Damiano (Coeur d'Alene), Dane Dugan (KC Fairgrounds), Allan Dykstra (KC Fairgrounds), KCSO Sergeant Nancy Ellis, Mandi Ford (KCSO), Lisa Hersh (Athol), Jon Johnson (KC Fairgrounds), Shirley Jones (Rathdrum), Matthew Lemieux (Post Falls), Cody Lewis (Coeur d'Alene), Richard and Teresa Lewis (Post Falls), Tom and Serena Lucas (Coeur d'Alene), KCSO Animal Control Alyssa Marlow, Cathy Miles (Athol), Kathy Neirinckx (Coeur d'Alene), KCSO Deputy Nate Nelson, Dave and Suzanne Nussear (Dalton Gardens), KCSO Animal Control Sandy Osburn, Beth Paragamian (Coeur d'Alene), John Richards (Hayden), Manual Rose (Coeur d'Alene), KCSO Animal Control Jessica Shotzberger, Brandon Stewart (Coeur d'Alene), John and Rachel Treantenou (Post Falls), Linda Wilson (Rathdrum), and Bob and Annmarie Wright (Dalton Gardens).

The Sheriff's Office would also like to thank the following businesses for their support, donations and veterinary care during this situation: Aspen Veterinary Services, DVM Kendall Bodkin, DVM Annie Bowes, Cannon Hill Industries, Hayden Pet Medical Center, Idaho Forest Group - Chilco Mill, Kootenai County Fairgrounds, Kootenai Humane Society, DVM Nicole Leonard, Petco, Sunset Animal Hospital and Super 1 Foods.

Due to the assistance provided by these individuals and businesses, the animals involved received care and regained their health before their adoptions to new homes.
