Legion baseball: Lakers capture Ed Gallo title

WHITEFISH — The Kalispell Lakers A rallied to beat the Williston Keybirds (N.D.) 11-10 in the championship game Sunday afternoon at the 25th annual Ed Gallo Memorial American Legion Baseball Tournament at Memorial Field.

The Lakers trailed by as many as eight runs and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

No other details were available.

Kalispell advanced to the title contest by defeating the Glacier All-Stars 10-5 earlier in the day.

Williston moved on with an 8-2 victory over the Calgary Redbirds.

The Lakers are back in action July 3-6 at the Wood Bat Tournament in Spokane, Wash.

EUREKA — Cole Snyder, Zeke Webster-Yaqui and TJ Olson had three RBIs each and Bradley Pichler tossed a 4-hitter as Mission Valley rolled by Kootenai Valley in the first game of a doubleheader.

Webster-Yaqui went 4 for 5 and doubled twice.

Olson and Snyder both went 3 for 4. Olson also doubled and stole two bases.

Trevor Paro, 1 for 1, had four steals and scored three times.

Pichler struck out six and walked one batter in the seven-inning contest.

CJ Henrie, 1 for 3, doubled for Eureka.

Kootenai Valley used a three-run fifth inning to rally past Mission Valley in the second game.

Nick Rackley and Austin Perez had RBIs for Kootenai Valley.

Dalton Smith and Sam Hannay had two hits each for the victors.

Perez went the distance on the mound. He held Mission Valley to four hits and struck out 10 batters.
