Bigfork girls third at Western B divisional

HAMILTON — In the fourth meeting between the teams this season this season, Bigfork got the best of Plains in the consolation final, beating the Trotters 48-35 to claim third place at the Western B divisional basketball tournament on Saturday.
The Valkyries, trailing 18-12 at halftime, took hold in the fourth quarter, outscoring Plains 20-5 in the final frame to beat the Trotters for the second time this postseason.
Lana Berg had a game-high 13 points to lead the Vals and Tessa Robertson had 11.
Kimberly Earhart had nine for Plains.

HAMILTON — Deer Lodge overcame a slow start to run away with the divisional championship and the top seed from the West in the state tournament with a win over Missoula Loyola Sacred Heart.
The Wardens took control in the second quarter, bringing a 25-18 lead into halftime, and outscored Loyola 19-11 in the fourth to seal the victory.
Bailee Senecal scored 21 points and Shayla Therriault had 11 to lead Deer Lodge. Makaya Risner had nine points to lead the Breakers.
Both teams advanced to the state tournament March 13-15 in Bozeman. Deer Lodge will play the fourth seed from the South and Loyola the South’s second seed.
