The health food store Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage will open Tuesday at 222 W. Neider Ave. The 16,000- square-foot new building is where Elmer's Restaurant was (now at 290 W. Appleway), just south of Red Lobster east of Highway 95.
With about 25 employees, the business sells natural and organic groceries and produce and meat from animals raised naturally without the use of antibiotics or hormones. With a classroom area and free coffee and tea until 11 a.m., the store offers free cooking demonstrations, meal planning and health coaching (and free Wifi).
Established in 1955 with its headquarters in Golden, Colo., the company has about 100 stores in 13 states. In Coeur d'Alene manager Kari Romeo and assistant Anthony Aquino are also looking for local products. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 to 7 Sundays. Phone 665-4590. Tara's Pizza opens in Rathdrum
Homemade pizza and sauces are featured at Tara's Pizza with the new Paul Bunyan eatery at 13735 W. Highway 53 in Rathdrum. With the family recipe, the eight specialty pizzas include The Hawk (for the Lakeland High School teams) and the Westwood (Rathdrum's original name).
Owners Tara and Scott Ovnicek grew up in Post Falls, married and have sons John and Carter helping with the business. Homemade pizza has been with Scott's Christmas Eve birthday for more than 40 years.

Heart Clinic Northwest in Post Falls
A new Heart Clinic Northwest outlet opens Monday in Suite 900 at 1300 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls. The 30-year-old business. a division of Kootenai Clinic, has 17 locations in the Inland Northwest with two in Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint.
Seven doctors and their staff offer interventional and nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT and electrophysiology with diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.

Perfect Fit moves in Dalton
Offering clothing alterations and a formal wear consignment shop, The Perfect Fit has moved to Unit 1 at 7791 Aqua Circle in Dalton Gardens.
Judy Karlgaard started the business 30 years ago and was joined by daughter Rita Serwat and three contract workers. They do all alterations, zippers and hems including for wedding dresses, winter wear and designer jeans. The formal wear shop offers more than 1,400 dresses.
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays by appointment. Phone 772-4812 and check "formal dress" on Facebook and Craigslist.
