Whitefish considers food vendor permit changes
The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 9 months AGO
A proposal to streamline the permitting process for mobile food vendors in Whitefish will be considered during a public hearing at the Whitefish City Council meeting tonight.
The Whitefish planning staff recently proposed an amendment to make the vending permits valid for one year, renewable if no issues have arisen. Another proposed change would eliminate the 30-day trial permit.
Planning Director David Taylor said the current system that allows a 30-day trial permit and two 90-day permits puts the burden on staff to track the expiration dates three times in a year, which is difficult to administer.
The Whitefish Planning Board unanimously recommended approval of the vendor permit changes.
Two other public hearings are on the agenda. One is a request by the city to amend city zoning regulations to include the issuance of a conditional use permit for multiple uses on the same lot.
The other hearing is another zoning text amendment to identify business services as a permitted use in the secondary business district.
Finance Director Corey Swisher will give the council a midyear financial report.
The council will hold a work session on annexation from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:10 p.m. Both sessions are at Whitefish City Hall.
