POST FALLS - Here's your chance to support Post Falls students while sampling food and drinks from area businesses.
The 18th annual Wine, Stein and Dine, a fundraiser organized by the nonprofit Post Falls Education Foundation that awards grants toward classroom projects, will be held from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Greyhound Park and Event Center.
In the past 17 years, the foundation has awarded $434,500 in grants.
"With the great support of our community, we have raised nearly a half a million dollars that has directly benefitted teachers and students in the Post Falls School District," said Jon Wilkerson, foundation president. "That is unbelievable."
About 90 businesses, including wineries, microbreweries and restaurants, will offer samples to attendees. More than 600 people attend each year.
Tickets are $45 each or $60 at the door. Tickets are on sale at Enoteca in Post Falls, Panhandle State Bank in Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene and Rathdrum, the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce, the school district office, Super 1 Foods-Post Falls and the Trading Co. Store.
"We haven't raised the price for several years because we want to keep it affordable," said Dave Paul, foundation member.
The cost includes all food and beverages and a complimentary wine glass or beer stein. You must be at least 21 to attend.
There will also be a silent auction, wine tree raffle and live entertainment. Vendors' food and drinks will be judged.
The foundation supports programs at all grade levels. Teachers apply for the grants, and proceeds are distributed by the foundation each spring.
"This year the PFEF has identified a focus on funding technology in the classroom," said Jerry Keane, school superintendent.
The corporate sponsor of the event is Panhandle State Bank.
