I suppose we have reached another milestone with this president. I didn’t think he could become more duplicitous and incompetent, but foolish me.

I will leave out the Fast and Furious debacle with his good friend Eric Holder, dereliction of duty for him and Hillary Clinton in Benghazi, and the use of the IRS as a political weapon against Tea Party and other conservative groups (you do remember what happened to President Nixon, and at least he was good at foreign relations!).

Before you liberals beat me up, let me review some of his more recent grand accomplishments. After all, with the congressional Republicans lacking the spine to actually subpoena witnesses and get answers, this administration will continue to stonewall the limp-willed Republicans on all of these issues until they are long gone from office. So let’s stick to his accomplishments in the last six months or so.

Syria — solved. Obama drew a line. With Putin’s help, Assad ignored it and used chemical weapons (perhaps some he got from Iraq) to kill his own innocent citizens. Putin stepped in again and arranged a deal for Assad to turn over his chemical weapons, a deal that left Assad in power — despite Obama’s position that he had to go — and he is still killing thousands each month with the help of arms and money from Putin. And the deadlines for turning over the chemical weapons for destruction have come and gone with less than 15 perfcent of his KNOWN stockpile having been turned over (in direct violation of the agreement — but, heck, with Obamacare we know what deadlines mean to this president!). I wonder how many million civilians the hundreds of tons of chemical weapons that remain could kill, while Assad has had months to hide them.

Iran — solved. We have lifted sanctions and Iran has done nothing. Oh, that’s right, we gave them six months to do virtually nothing — to drop the level of enrichment of their near-weapons-grade uranium, a move that, even if they do, could be reversed in a few months,. Meanwhile, the centrifuges remain intact.

And now we have the Ukraine, a country whose citizens are literally dying for freedom and democracy (even as we give our precious freedoms up in this gestapo state of ours). Another line has been drawn, ignored, and more words have been spoken without a single action. In three days, Putin amassed troops on the border with the Crimea, sent them in, and gave Ukrainian troops an ultimatum. And what is the greatest country in the world doing (not to mention that bastion of freedom — the United Nations)? We’re talking, we’re meeting, and we’re threatening that there will be a cost to Russia.

Meanwhile, what is the cost to the reputation of the United States for ignoring an agreement signed by us and the Brits in 1994 under Bill Clinton called the Budapest Memorandum obligating us to defend the Ukraine in exchange for them giving up nuclear weapons?

 “What can the president do?” the liberal pundits opine. “His hands are really tied.” I have a few suggestions.

When Putin invaded Crimea, I would have held a phone conference with the other members of the G8 and kicked Russia out, At the same time I would have frozen all Russian assets in U.S. banks (and hopefully European banks if they have the guts). Third, I would immediately announce that we are proceeding with our missile defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic. Fourth, I would put a carrier group in the Black Sea now. I know we are only allowed two ships, but Putin isn’t allowed to invade a sovereign nation either. Fifth, I would fast-track all natural gas and oil production in this country as well as the Keystone Pipeline and tell Putin we will do everything we can to drive the price of oil down with our friends in other oil-producing countries until the Russian economy is back in the toilet where it belongs. Putin without oil money will be gone from power before you can say ruble.

But I am sure none of this will happen. What WILL happen is Putin will annex the Crimea, Obama will say that this makes geopolitical sense since they are more Russian than Ukrainian, and then Putin will fix the elections in May in Kiev so he gets a Russian, rather than European, leaning president who will be just as corrupt as the last president that he put in power, Yanukovych.

For the first time, I genuinely fear for the future of this great country. I never believed that one incompetent leader could cause so much damage in five years, but Obama has done it. He is incapable of making decisions and terrified of taking the lead on any bold actions. Kennedy facing down the Soviet Union in the Cuban missile crisis — Bold! George H.W. Bush put together a coalition to kick Iraq out of Kuwait — Bold! Obama sent the SEALs to get bin Laden (the Seals were certainly bold — not so much Obama). Ordering drones to kill U.S. and foreign terrorists... really... bold?

His only strength seems to be political maneuvering to win elections — the main reason that real leaders (not politicians) prefer not to run for political office.
