LOTTO: Speak up for the voiceless

Paula Dahlen’s letter to speak up for the voiceless was touching.

Why must a dog be killed because of the stupidity of a woman who puts her fingers in that dog’s cage? And what right does her partner, an apparent dog hater, have to order that dog be euthanized?

The dog was simply protecting his territory, little space that it is. Is there any way to prevent putting this dog down? Dogs are smart. They can sense love and kindness, as well as insincerity and cruelty. The people who volunteer at the Kootenai Humane Society know this dog. If he was a threat, I doubt they would have him available for adoption.

There are common sense factors to heed when petting a strange dog, and those factors were not applied. Don’t kill a dog because of human error.

Saint Francis of Assisi wrote: “If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow man.”

Please show pity for Lotto.
