Class AA state girls: Billings Senior slips past Wolfpack

BILLINGS — Billings Senior outscored Glacier 30-16 in the middle two quarter to post a 50-41 consolation victory on Saturday morning at the Class AA state girls basketball tournament.

Glacier held a 17-14 lead after eight minutes, but struggled offensively for the remainder of play.

Cassi Hashley closed out her Wolfpack career by scoring a game-high 24 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

Jordyn Wagner and Alli Kieckbusch both scored 12 points to lead Senior.

Glacier, which claimed its first-ever state tournament win on Thursday, a 47-46 victory over Great Falls High, dropped its next two. The Wolfpack finished the season with a 16-8 overall record.

In the trophy games on Saturday, second-ranked Missoula Sentinel defeated Billings West 48-30 to claim its third-straight state championship.

Olivia Roberts tallied 18 points for the Spartans and Sam Harper added 12.

West defeated Sentinel in the 2011 championship game.

In the third-place contest, top-ranked Helena Capital lost to Billings Senior, 51-40.

The Bruins dropped two straight at state.
