Police are on scene at the Aspen Apartments on Pine Street in Rathdrum where a man is believed to be barricaded in his apartment.

The Post Falls Police Department, one of the responding agencies, reported on its Facebook page that the suspect has a "history of weapons," and that his name is Johnathon W. Raper.

Residents of the apartment complex have been evacuated and report that they have been told it could be hours before they're allowed to return to their homes.

Rathdrum police and sheriff's officers are also on scene.

Citizens are asked to stay clear of the area.
