SMS warns of possible case of meningitis

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Middle School officials are advising parents to keep an eye on their kids after a teacher was hospitalized this week with possible bacterial meningitis.

A bacterial illness that inflames the membranes covering the spinal cord and brain, meningitis is contagious and, due to its close proximity to vital body functions, considered a medical emergency.
