Moses Lake girls track takes Ray Cross Invitational

EPHRATA - Behind nine first place finishes, the Moses Lake girls track team was able to run away with the Ray Cross Invitational in Ephrata.

The Chief girls totalled 150 points, 72.5 points more than the second place Ephrata Tigers.

The Moses Lake boys finished third behind Liberty Bell and first place Ephrata. The Tigers dominated with 148 points.

Moses Lake girls were a blur on the track with wins in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 300 meter hurdles 4 x 100 meter relay, 4 x 200 meter relay and 4 x 400 meter relay.

Alysha Overland edged Cascade's Maddy Parton in the 100 meters with a time of 13.39 seconds.

Parton was again beat out by a Chief when Caylah Lunning recorded a time of 27.11 in the 200 meters, good for first place.

Stephanie Overland beat out Quincy's Valerie Tobin in the 400 meters with a time of 1 minute, 2.04 seconds.

Alysha was able to notch another win in the 300 meter hurdles, narrowly beating teammate Arlene Hannan.

The relay team of Stephanie and Alysha Overland, Caylah Lunning and Arlena Hannan dominated the 4 x 200 finishing over 10 seconds ahead of second place Davis.

On the boys' side, Alek Schweisow beat Valley Christian's Grant Marchant by less than a second to secure a win in the 1600 meters.

Renwil Bacat took first in the javelin with a throw of 160 feet, six inches.

Moses Lake will compete in the Don Holder Relays March 29.
