Deputies asked to officiate raffle pricing

A disgruntled man contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to complain about a raffle being run at a U.S. 2 East location involving tickets being sold for $100. He said he thought it was a scam and that they didn’t have a license to do it, and also that the price per ticket was too high. He wanted to know if they should charge less per ticket. He was advised that the sheriff’s office could not set the raffle ticket prices.

A dog owner was told to keep the animal on his property or he would end up with another dead dog or several citations after a Lone Star Trail resident reported the dog was back at the property terrorizing the chickens again. The resident had previously shot one of the man’s dogs after it attacked some goats, and didn’t want to go through it again.

A deputy checked on a group of teenagers reported shooting on their own property toward a field without supervision and discovered that they were shooting safely.

A drunk man reported his wife had just hit him with a cup at a Van Sant Road residence. He was transported to a motel.

The owner of a Welf Lane storage unit complex reported someone moved into one of the storage units without paying and without authorization.

A Montana 35 woman near Bigfork reported her uncle, against whom she has a restraining order, had just driven by and flipped her off.

A Lakeside man reported some neighbor youths had tried to give his daughter drugs.

A suitcase full of garbage was collected from the parking lot of a Montana 83 school.

A truck and trailer were vandalized on Riley Lane.


A concerned citizen contacted the Kalispell Police Department after getting a logging truck to pull over, having been behind the truck as it entered the west side of town. The citizen reported that the truck had been accidentally ripping down power lines as it progressed through town.

A Seventh Avenue West man reported his sister’s boyfriend was threatening to come over and kick in the door to get his dog back. The men, who both sounded drunk, were counseled.

Officers were unable to locate a drunk woman reported at a West Idaho gas station when she was unable to stand up straight while pumping gas. She was also reported slurring her words before she drove away.

A lewd lad was reported to police after exposing himself to a woman on Ninth Street East as she was walking by.

A man and woman were counseled after he was reported yelling and breaking glass in his ex-wife’s 10th Avenue West home.

A boy was arrested after he was reported shoplifting at a Third Avenue East North store while accompanied by his friends.

A watchful woman reported finding drug paraphernalia on her son while driving around town.

A television was stolen from a Sunny View Lane nursing home and later found stashed by a recycling area.

A man was arrested on East Idaho Street after it was reported that he was assaulting a woman.

A church offering box was found lying in a gully in Lawrence Park.


A sour Somers Avenue resident contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report her neighbors have a huge, lit Christmas decoration up that they turn on every night, which is so bright it shines into her daughter’s room and wakes her up.

A man was arrested after a Wisconsin Avenue resident reported her upstairs neighbors were fighting, yelling and slamming stuff around.

A person was arrested during a traffic stop on Edgewood Place.


A Columbia Falls Police Department officer responded to 13th Street West after someone reported several youths trying to break into trailers and riding around on a motorcycle making lots of noise. Despite waiting with the lights on the car off, the officer was unable to locate the alleged troublemakers.

A food fight was reported in the cafeteria of a Talbot Road school.

A possible methamphetamine pipe was found in front of the fire department.
