Glacier Park to take bids on chalet contract

The National Park Service has released a prospectus for a new concession contract to operate Granite Park and Sperry chalets, historic backcountry lodges in Glacier National Park.

The current contract for managing the chalets is held by Belton Chalets Inc. and will expire at the end of this year. A new 10-year concession contract will take effect Jan. 1, 2015.

Granite Park Chalet is a hiker shelter providing lodging and kitchen facilities for guests to prepare their own meals, and Sperry Chalet is a backcountry hotel with lodging accommodations and meals provided by the operator.

Those interested in submitting a proposal for the contract can learn more at http://www.concessions.nps.gov.

Proposals must be submitted no later than May 19.
