Schweitzer celebrates a golden season

SANDPOINT — At the grand old age of 50, Schweitzer Mountain Resort has reached the point where it has nothing to prove, but it still has a few tricks up its sleeve.

For resort associates like marketing director Sean Mirus, it’s hard to believe it was 50 years ago that Schweitzer welcomed its first officials guests onto the slopes. Since that time, there have been plenty of ups and downs, Mirus said, but a half-century of business proves the endurance of the local institution.

“I think it’s a huge milestone for any institution,” Mirus said.
