A Somers man who fired between 80 and 100 rounds outside his home has been given a three-year deferred sentence.

Christopher Cassidy, 42, had pleaded guilty in Flathead District Court to a felony charge of criminal endangerment. A second felony charge of criminal manufacture of dangerous drugs was dismissed.

According to a court document, a SWAT team used gas canisters to flush Cassidy out of his home and take him into custody on Feb. 9, 2013, after he kept entering and exiting his house, firing shots randomly from a high-powered rifle, a smaller-caliber rifle and a handgun.

No one was struck by any of the shots.

The drug manufacturing charge came as a result of allegations that approximately 30 marijuana plants were seized from Cassidy’s basement.

During the March 21 hearing, District Judge David Ortley also ordered Cassidy to pay a $500 fine.
