MLHS girls golf second at tourney

SUNNYSIDE - The Moses Lake High School girls golf team finished 2nd to Wenatchee High School at a March 25 tournament held at Black Rock Creek Golf Club. Eastmont, Davis and Eishenhower High Schools also competed.
Chiefs Senior Emily Dennis finished tied for 2nd in the field, shooting an impressive 93 on the par 72 course. Head Coach Lonny Brown said that it was the best round of her career.
After beginning slow with two, triple bogies on par 3 holes, Dennis bounced back with a birdie on the 9th hole, par 5 and had a solid back 9 score of 47.
Chiefs sophomore Mikayla Chavez finished tied for 4th in the field of 30 golfers, by shooting a 100. She scored two birdies and three pars in the tournament, but also had a number of triple bogeys.
Chiefs senior Terrin Utter finished tied for 14th with her score of 104. Sophomore McKenna Conley finished in 20th place with a score of 114.
Brown said that the season is going well for the Chiefs. The team finished 4th in a field of 14 at a Jamboree held at Moses Lake Golf Club last week. They will return to the tee boxes on April 8 at Yakima Country Club.
