ANNIVERSARY
Jeff and Lori Barker
30th Anniversary
Jeff and Lori Barker will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 12, 2014, with an open house at the couple's Post Falls home.
Lori and Jeff were married in Coeur d'Alene on April 14, 1984.
BIRTHS
Madison Grace Mendenhall was born at 1:42 p.m. Feb. 3, 2014, to Holly Fjeld and Wesley Mendenhall of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Brother is Tristan Mendenhall. Maternal grandparents are Pam and Cory Fjeld. Paternal grandparents are Harland and Mildred Mendenhall.
Georgia Nikole Bjurstrom was born at 2:42 a.m. March 23, 2014, to Ashley Nicole Walters and Nikolas Carl Bjurstrom of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Keri Mitchell and Walters. Paternal grandparents are Andy and Chris Bjurstrom.
Isabel Irene Mastin was born at 2:38 p.m. March 11, 2014, to Kristin and Chad Mastin of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20.5 inches. Maternal grandparents are Irene Sommerfield and Glenn Sommerfield. Paternal grandparents are Earl and Elizabeth Mastin.
MILITARY
Tristan Wenker a 2010 graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School has been promoted to Specialist with the Army 1st Calvary Division. Tristan recently returned from a nine-month tour of duty in Afghanistan to his home base at Ft. Hood, Texas.
MISSIONARIES
Camille Barlow, 19, of Post Falls, was recently called to serve an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Kingston Jamaica Mission. She is the daughter of Brad and Kalynne Barlow of Post Falls.
Camille graduated from Post Falls High School in 2013 and attended BYU-Idaho. She has worked for Row Adventures, Little Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and Platos Closet in Spokane. Camille is excited to serve the people of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands and share her love of Jesus Christ through service and testimony.
Michael Wayne Bell, 19, of Post Falls, will serve a two-year mission in the Berlin, Germany, Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is the son of Carrie and the late Murland Bell of Post Falls.
Michael graduated from Post Falls High School in 2013 and volunteers at Atlas Elementary. He has written several musical compositions for piano and received awards for singing, including first place in the bass category in the high school vocal solo competition two years in a row and placed fourth in the state in his senior year.
Nicholas Hunter Kesler, 19, of Coeur d'Alene, was called to serve in the Russia Yekaterin-burg Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years. His parents are Shirlyn and Keith Kesler of Laguna Beach, Calif.
Cole graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 2013 and has been attending North Idaho College on a basketball scholarship. He would like to play basketball at SLCC when he returns.
Jacob R. Steinberg, 18, received his Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor held in his behalf this past week. He is the son of Kurt and Kara Steinberg of Coeur d'Alene and is in Troop 209 sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Coeur d'Alene 1st Ward.
Jake's project consisted of building new bleachers at the starting line of the Cherry Hill BMX track in Coeur d'Alene. His family enjoys the track and saw a need for more seating. Donations were gratefully received from Grant Forest, Lake City Powder Coating, Verkist Construction and extended family. Many work hours were donated by Troop 209 and members of his Ward and family.
A senior at Coeur d'Alene High School, Jake is in the KTEC Program (Kootenai Technical, taking the hospitality management course). He works part time for Little Caesars Pizza, enjoys guitar and music and plans to attend BYU-Idaho in the fall.
