SANDPOINT — Sandpoint senior David Currie returned from injury to the No. 1 spot with a bang, shooting a 79 to lead the Bulldog golf team during a strong showing on Thursday at the Sandpoint Invitational, held at the Elks Golf Course.

Freshman Max Toenjes shot his third consecutive sub-80’s round, also carding a 79 as the Bulldog boys finished just one stroke behind 4A IEL rival Lakeland, by far the closest margin this year. The two teams will be battling for the lone berth to state again next Tuesday, once again on the Bulldogs’ home course.
