Get ready to give.

Idaho Gives, a day of statewide online charitable giving, is today.

Hundreds of Idaho nonprofits are ready to accept donations during this second Idaho Gives day. There are 88 North Idaho nonprofits participating this year.

Groups have been busy reaching out to supporters new and old - via direct mail, email, websites, and social media - to drive Web traffic and donations to idahogives.org.

"Go to idahogives.org and look for your favorite nonprofit and give," said Ann Johnson, executive director of Coeur d'Alene Homes and board member of the Idaho Nonprofit Center, facilitator of the event. "To show the impact local nonprofits have on our community, we're coloring our fence along Northwest Boulevard with ribbons for every donation made on May 1 to a local nonprofit.

"Whether you donate to Coeur d'Alene Homes, Kootenai Health Foundation, United Way, Post Falls Food Bank, or any of the other 35 charities participating within Kootenai County, we'll put up a ribbon, and we have a huge fence."

Last year, Idaho Gives raised nearly $600,000 for more than 500 charitable causes statewide.
