EPHRATA - Two Moses Lake men accused of attacking and robbing a couple at their home in December recently were charged in superior court.
Prosecutors charged Laddie J. Allen Avery, 20, with residential burglary and fourth-degree assault. The second suspect, Tyler M. Marchand, 22, is facing charges of second-degree robbery and fourth-degree assault, according to court records.
On Dec. 23, Allen Avery reportedly texted a woman believed to be his ex-girlfriend and told her he was coming to her home on Baseline Road East. Allen Avery, Marchand and another man allegedly arrived at the home about 2 a.m. and began honking the horn and yelling.
The ex-girlfriend reportedly went outside to tell them to be quiet and leave when she began to argue with Marchand, who then allegedly hit the woman in the face with a metal pipe or crow bar, according to court records.
The suspects also assaulted another man who came out of the home before fleeing when they heard the police had been called. The two were stopped by police in downtown Moses Lake and taken into custody. Police reportedly found the male victim's car keys in Marchand's pocket during the investigation. Marchand also allegedly stole the victim's cell phone, even sending a text to the ex-girlfriend, thanking her for the new phone, according to court records.
