Live birds of prey will be at the Libby Dam Visitor Center on Saturday, May 3 for a special presentation by wildlife rehabilitator Janie Fink.

Presentations will be at 10:30 a.m. and noon. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis.

Fink is a raptor biologist with a master’s degree from Purdue University, and has studied and worked with birds of prey for 20 years, nursed injured wild birds back to health and reintroduced to the wild endangered raptors such as ospreys and peregrine falcons.  

On Saturday, she will have different birds from last year’s presentation. Dakota, the golden eagle, and swainsons hawk will be used to teach about migratory birds. A barn owl will introduce the world on non-migratory, nocturnal birds of prey. There’s also the chance to meet the peregrine falcon, the fastest animal in the world.

In addition, a new, first-time display of photographs by Ruth Fenn will be on display. The photos feature birds and wildlife from around the Libby area.

The dam visitor center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
