RATHDRUM - Dylan Piva went 2 for 2 with four RBIs and three steals, and struck out four in two innings in the first game, helping the Lakeland Hawks clinch the 4A Inland Empire League championship with an 18-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader against Sandpoint on Thursday afternoon at Gorton Field.

"I was very pleased with the way we opened up Game 1," said Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury, whose Hawks team opened a 15-0 after the first. "We came out swinging the bats and hit the ball hard up and down the lineup. Dylan had a great outing, both offensively and defensively.

Lakeland won the second game 18-8.

"We came out swinging and got quite a few runs on the board," Bradbury said. "I'm very proud of how we finished up and am excited to start the playoffs."
