ST. IGNATIUS – Authorities have a 14-year-old St. Ignatius boy in custody after he allegedly stabbed a 17-year-old boy, also of Mission, multiple times in the back and once in the head.
The stabbing reportedly occurred at the 14-year-old's home on 3rd Avenue in St. Ignatius early Sunday morning, and authorities were made aware of the situation by a woman who called 911 while driving the victim to St. Luke Hospital in Ronan around 1:30 a.m.
Law enforcement took the 14-year-old boy into custody at the scene soon after.
The victim was later transferred to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, where Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said he is in stable condition.
Yonkin said authorities are not sure at the moment if drugs or alcohol were involved in the stabbing.
