Incumbents retain seats on school board

The three incumbent candidates for the Whitefish School District have retained their seats on the school board.

Dave Fern, Heather Vrentas and Shawn Watts earned the most votes in Tuesday’s election beating out challenger Marguerite Kaminski.

Vrentas earned the most votes with 793, followed by Shawn Watts with 775 and Fern earned 733. Kaminski had 589 votes, according to the district.

Fern has spent 21 years on the school board. Vrentas and Watts were both first elected to the school board in 2011.

There was 11.57 percent voter turnout in the election with 1,118 ballots cast.
