COEUR d'ALENE - Junior Michael Hicks went 4 for 4 with three doubles and a triple, and scored two runs, to lead the Vikings past the Trojans at Ted Page Field.

"He's a dynamic kid," Coeur d'Alene coach Nick Rook said of Hicks. "He's a good hitter, and he was ready to play today."

Connor Cardinel pitched five innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts for Coeur d'Alene. Nick Nyquist went 2 for 4 and scored twice, and Devin Kluss was 2 for 4.

"Overall, we played OK," Rook said. "We left nine or 10 on base, so we have to clean that up."

Nate Gomer was 2 for 3 for Post Falls, which went 1-3 vs. Lewiston during the regular season.

Coeur d'Alene took all four meetings from Lake City during 5A Inland Empire League play.

"It's tough to travel and win in Lewiston, so kudos to them," Rook said of Lake City. "Baseball's a fickle thing; the more you play somebody, the more chances they have to beat you. We'll be ready to go."

Reilly Cherry went 3 for 4 for Lake City, which split four games with Lewiston during the regular season. Cody Garza drove in a pair of runs and Winger and Carter Chaffin each had two hits. Both of Chaffin's hits were doubles.

"We were able to play a full seven innings from start to finish and it showed," Georgius said. "We finally held onto a lead and that's what we need to do from here on out. It'll be interesting to see if we can grind out another one tomorrow."
