Whitefish’s assistant city manager and finance director abruptly resigned last month.

Corey Swisher left a handwritten note on April 25 saying that he was resigning for continuing health concerns, according to City Manager Chuck Stearns.

Swisher began work with the city in December. He previously served as city clerk and finance director in Basehor, Kan.

Stearns said he believes that pending budget deadlines may have created too much stress for Swisher.

The city will begin advertising for a new finance director soon.

The resignation has already impacted the release of the city’s draft budget, which was expected Monday. Stearns said he plans to have the document ready in another two weeks.

“This means we’re two weeks behind,” Stearns said. “We’ll get it out, but this means I have more work to do.”
