Russ Pilcher/Western Montana Top 10
At Missoula, several Lake County athletes placed, highlighted on the boys’ end by Jacob Clairmont’s second in the long jump for Polson. Polson senior Tel Motichka finished eighth in the 800, and Lucas Gerhardt found the podium in both the shot put and the javelin for Ronan’s boys.
Lydia Bowman finished fifth in the 200 for Polson, and Arlee’s Jessica Knoll placed sixth in the 400-meter dash.

At Whitefish, Ronan senior Lucas Gerhardt took first in the shot put, narrowly missing his top throw of the year. Jared Rubel placed fourth in the pole vault for Polson, and Joe Mullen hit the podium in the javelin.
On the girls side, Polson’s Claudia Hewston finished a close second in the 800. Teammates Kidron Lee and Gracie Carlyle placed third and sixth in the javelin, respectively. Madisen Wheeler also placed, finishing sixth in the 300 hurdles for Polson, Mariah Corrigan took third in the javelin, and both of the Pirates’ girls relays placed.

Polson woman pleads not guilty to homicide
Danielle Jeanette Wood pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide during a video arraignment Tuesday before Lake County District Court Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher at the Sanders County Courthouse in Thompson Falls. Wood is charged with deliberate homicide in connection with the death of Thompson Falls resident Matthew LaFriniere in May 2018.
