Curtain up! Light the lights! It's time for murder!
Lake City High School's Troupe de Wolfe ends its season with John Bishop's "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940."
The show opened Thursday and runs at 7 p.m. tonight, Saturday and Sunday and at 7 p.m. May 15-17.
The story follows the creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious "stage door slasher."
The group assembles for a backer's audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy "angel."
The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid who is apparently four different people.
Comic mayhem follows when the infamous "Slasher" makes his reappearance and strikes again and again.
As the composer, lyricist, actors and director prepare their performance, a blizzard cuts off any possible retreat, bodies start to drop in plain sight, knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind swiveling bookcases, and accusing fingers point in all directions.
The cast of "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" includes: Sydney Bell, Nick Gribbin, Grace Warnick, Gabe Single-Schwall, Piper Glover, Tyler Brostrom, Kody Kratz, Hailey Cunnington, Apollo Rose and Lindsay Montgomery. Lake City High School theater arts teacher Sandra Seaton is directing the production. Vanessa Ventresco serves as stage manager and Riley Hess is the assistant stage manager. Zack White serves as technical director. The costume designer is Grace Warnick, and properties coordinators are Emily Bunes and Cassidy Tidwell. Brandon Miller and Uriah Ove are designing lights and Jake Chicks is serving as sound designer.
Tickets are available at the box office one hour before the performances begin each night. Tickets are $7/adults, $6/students, seniors and children, and $5 with a Lake City Associated Student Body card.
