Lake City boys, mixed doubles teams claim 5A titles

POST FALLS - Two doubles teams from Lake City won 5A Region 1 championship matches on Saturday.
The Timberwolves boys doubles team of Jordon Cates and Mitch Williams defeated teammates Jacob Dahl and Nick Jordan.
In mixed doubles action, CC Cates and Zach Weadick came back to beat the Post Falls pair of Meagan Sausser and Bill Bridges.
The top four singles players and doubles teams advanced to the state 5A tennis tournament, to be held next Friday and Saturday at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club.
"Lake City did a great job of maneuvering their lineup to get more kids into the state tournament," Post Falls coach Kirk Hartzell said. "It was a good job of getting the maximum amount of kids through."
All championship and third-place matches were played at Post Falls High. The consolation singles matches were held at the Post Falls city courts.

Bulldogs win 2 doubles titles at 4A tourney
COEUR d'ALENE - Sandpoint swept play in doubles in the 4A Region 1 tournament, which concluded at Lake City High on Saturday.
The boys doubles team of Michael Durfee and Spencer Temple, girls doubles team of Kennedy Search and Lannie Search and the mixed doubles team of Collin Jurenka and Katie Mares won in straight sets for the Bulldogs to advance to the state tournament starting on Friday at Timberline High in Boise.
Matthew Peck of Lakeland beat Royce Zazenko of Moscow in a second-place match in boys singles to also advance.
Moscow won the girls team title and Moscow and Sandpoint tied for the boys title.
