Royal undefeated champs in regular track season

ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School boys track team defeated Connell, Burbank and Kiona-Benton in a 4-team SCAC meet at Royal last week to finish the dual meet season as undefeated champs.
The Royal girls also had success, defeating Connell and Burbank to finish second in their league race. The girls lost one meet all year, and it was to Ki-Be.
Both teams will be on the field this Friday, hosting 29 teams, including Zillah, Cle Elum, Connell, Goldendale, Granger, Highland, Kiona-Benton, LaSalle, Naches, River View and Wahluke in the Ron Vanderholm Invitational. The start time will be 3:30 p.m.
In a meet at Connell on Friday, two Royal girls set school records. Maggie Delay went 34-2 in the triple jump, and Jennifer Ledezma went 30-5.5 in the shot.
Delay is ranked 8th in the state in the pole vault with a personal best of 8-6. She is ranked 10th in the TJ.
