RONAN — Shania Dubois’ grand slam highlighted a nine-run third inning for Mission-Arlee-Charlo, who held on to earn a regular-season split in the softball edition of the Battle for Ninepipe.

Dubois finished 2-for-4 (the other hit was a double) with five RBI, and Emilie Charlo also homered for the Bulldogs.

Kendra Starkel went 3-for-4 with a double for Ronan, and Kaitlyn Sassaman added two hits and two RBI for the Maidens.

Ronan threatened in the bottom of the seventh, but MAC center fielder Morgan Malatare ended the game by throwing a Maidens baserunner out at home.

KALISPELL — The Pirates hit four round-trippers to lead to a road rout of AA Glacier.

Taylor Brackey hit a three-run bomb in the first inning and followed it up with a solo homer in the fourth. She drove in four runs.

Jessica Bagnell went 3-for-4 with a home run of her own. The senior also picked up the win.

Sarah Rausch homered in the sixth for Polson.

POLSON — Kyrie Bitterman and Jaylin Kenney both had multi-hit senior days for Polson, and Jessica Bagnell slammed a double and later scored to lead Polson to victory.

The Pirates also got a pair of doubles from shortstop Hannah Potter, Taylor Brackey drove in two runs and Kaelen Wall contributed a pair of hits.

Polson woman pleads not guilty to homicide

Danielle Jeanette Wood pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide during a video arraignment Tuesday before Lake County District Court Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher at the Sanders County Courthouse in Thompson Falls. Wood is charged with deliberate homicide in connection with the death of Thompson Falls resident Matthew LaFriniere in May 2018.
