Cougars finish 2nd in SCAC

MATTAWA - Warden softball concluded South Central Athletic Conference play with a pair of wins against Wahluke recently.
The Cougars (10-2, 16-2) finished second in the league behind Connell, who handed Warden its only two losses on the season.
Behind four RBIs from Shania Kisler, Warden took the opener 24-3 and completed the sweep with a 14-0 win in the nightcap.
Aneissa Gonzales allowed only one hit and struck out eight batters in Game 1.
Kisler finished 4 for 4 with four runs scored to go along with her four RBIs.
Lexy Pruneda was also 4 for 4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases, while Aaliyah Enriquez was 3 for 3 with a double and a triple.
Gonzales and BryLee Whitney gave up no hits in a combined effort in Game 2. Gonzales recorded three strikeouts in two innings of work.
Andrea Contreras was 2 for 2 while Leilani Pruneda was 1 for 1 with a triple.
Warden closes its season with a nonleague doubleheader against Cle Elum-Roslyn May 17. The Cougars will begin the district tournament at home on May 22.
