Frank Darrell Rosco passed on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Hospice House of North Idaho.

Frank was born March 28, 1942, in Wallace, Idaho, to Vernon and Ethel White Rosco. He grew up in the Kellogg and Bonners Ferry areas. After high school, Frank joined the U.S. Navy on May 25, 1959, and did one tour of duty until March 4, 1963. Frank then went into the Reserves until June 3, 1965. He went home and took a job with the lumber mill in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Frank joined the U.S. Air Force on April 15, 1965, and retired on July 31, 1981.

Frank's career in the U.S. Navy took him to many different ports. He started boot camp in San Diego, Calif., and was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station (NAS) in San Diego where he did his Photographer's Mates "A" school. Frank was then assigned to AEWBARRONPAC Midway Det. on Midway Island; Treasure Island, San Francisco, Calif., and Sand Point NAS in Seattle, Wash., until he went into the reserves.

Frank’s career in the U.S. Air Force provided him many opportunities for travel. He did his basic training at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) in Biloxi, Miss., and went on to Tech Training School to learn combat photography at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Fla. He was then stationed at Mountain Home AFB in Mountain Home, Idaho; Naha AFB in Okinawa, Japan; Francis E. Warren A.F.B. in Cheyenne Wyo., Rhein-Main AFB in Frankfurt, Germany; McChord AFB in Tacoma, Wash., Udorn Royal Thai AFB in Udon Thani, Thailand; and Fairchild AFB in Spokane County, Wash., until he retired.

While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Frank completed multiple missions into Vietnam to photograph and record the war both on land and in the air. Some of his reels and photos are displayed at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.

While enjoying retirement in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Frank met the love of his life and his fishing partner. Frank and Sandra had their first date at Red Lobster in 2003. In between fishing trips they enjoyed traveling together to see both of their families; taking cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean, and sapphire mining in Montana. Their favorite interest was going to flea markets and antique shops.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ethel White Rosco; sister and brother in law, Ruth Rosco LaBrosse, and spouse, Eugene LaBrosse.

Frank is survived by his wife, Sandra Peck Hayes Rosco; daughter and son in law, Korena (Rosco) Townsend and husband Larry; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Harper Rosco Sawyer; six step-children: Holly Payne, Jeff  (Kim) Ylitalo, Marsha (J.J) Dee, Debbie (Duane) Harrison, Karen Gill, and Cameron (Jill) Ylitalo; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: Russell (Marion) Rosco, Vernon Rosco, and John (Pennie) Rosco; sister, Annie Rosco (Eldon) Koon; aunt, Valdie White Burkholder; numerous nieces and nephews; childhood friend, Terry Dinning and family; good friends, Bob and Maggie Tredway, Cheryl Burchell, Ken Burchell, and Steve and Jan Holweg.
