Suggestions for top candidates in GOP primary
Dale Haarr | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 6 months AGO
With the June 3 primary soon upon us, I continue to receive calls asking for recommendations for whom to vote for. I am impressed with the slate of conservative candidates this year and offer the following suggestions in the Republican primary:
Senate District 4. Having served on the council and being involved with “downtown” Kalispell and its citizens since 1973, the opportunity to place a former mayor in the Legislature is important for me. Tammi Fisher has identified issues pertinent to city and county government that she is excited to present and help gain passage for the betterment of Montana cities and towns, and especially their taxpaying citizens.
Public Service Commission: Derek Skees.
Clerk and recorder: Debbie Rhodes Pierson.
House District 7: Ronalee Skees.
House District 11: Mike Hebert.
County commissioner: Phil Mitchell.
U.S. House: Matt Rosendale.
U.S. Senate: Steve Daines.
I encourage everyone who qualifies to be sure and VOTE. There is still time to get registered and vote. Those who have absentee ballots, be sure and get them in by primary day, which is June 3.
To vote is one of the most important privileges we have as citizens.

LETTER: Sorry, Bob: Trump will 'git 'er done'
As a longtime friend and supporter of Bob Brown I have to state my disappointment in his decision to leave the Republican Party. I fear that Bob has lost the fire in his belly. I won’t address each issue he puts forth, but suffice it to say that Reagan’s belief in America as a “shining city on the hill for all to see” is a good place for Republicans to find common ground.
OPINION: Rethinking rail park may be good idea
I have watched with interest the development of the “rail park” project and with some degree of skepticism.
