YAKIMA - Following an undefeated season in district play, Chiefs #1 doubles team of Carina LeFave and Kylee McKay earned a #1 seed in the Columbia Basin Big Nine tournament this weekend and will have a bye in the first round.

LeFave, a senior, will continue her athletic career at Wentachee Valley College next year, where she recently signed her letter of intent to play volleyball.

McKay, a junior, sat out last year with a knee injury. Chiefs coach Rich Gregoire said they work especially well together because LeFave naturally focuses on offense while McKay's game is naturally defensive.

LeFave and McKay also made the Columbia Basin Big Nine's All-District Team, with LeFave earning first team honors and McKay making the second team along with teammates Ana Castano, Bryan Earl and Nolan Knapp. Chad Palmer and Jace Hunt were selected as honorable mentions.

Lefave/McKay (9-0) led the Chiefs girls' tennis team past Sunnyside this week and improved to 3-7 in district play.
