• Abandoned suitcase draws police to Walmart
POST FALLS - A Walmart customer who left behind a suitcase inadvertently in the parking lot of the store near the state line drew police to the business Monday night.
Post Falls officers were called to the store around 5 p.m. for a report of a suspicious package.
However, when surveillance was reviewed, it appeared that a male driving a vehicle with Texas plates inadvertently left it behind.
"He was going through items in his vehicle and placed it on the ground," Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug said.
Haug said multiple customers stopped to peek at what was inside the suitcase before leaving it. Another customer then turned it in to store management.
"It's never a good idea to take a suspicious package into a building," Haug said.
Store management looked inside and found clothing and toiletries.
Haug said Walmart was not evacuated, contrary to some reports.
