LINCOLN, Neb. — Carroll College junior Jackie Mee shot a 5-over-par 77 to tie for 25th after the first day of the NAIA Women’s golf national championship on Tuesday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club.
An early double-bogey on her fourth hole, the par-4 13th, set the Libby grad’s round back but she picked up strokes on the par-5 18th and the par-3 4th to keep within sight of the leaders. Bogeys on the 7th and 9th to end her round dropped her in the pack, six strokes behind the opening round leader, Bri LaFoca of Northwood (Fla.) University at 1-under.
The tournament continues through Friday.
Mee is one of two at-large selections from the Frontier Conference. Westminster (Utah) College’s Brandi Bork is tied for 47th with a 8-over 80.
Lewis-Clark State is in 14th place in the team standings and Rocky Mountain College is tied for 19th. Rocky’s Kyla Clancy leads the conference at 4-over, tied for 20th.
