BILLINGS — Northwestern A singles champion Emily Getts of Columbia Falls edged closer to her first state title on Thursday by winning first- and second-round matches at the Class A state tournament.

She breezed by Annie Hill of Glendivbe 6-1, 6-0 and took care of Roxy Rademacher of Corvallis 6-3, 6-0.

Whitefish’s Caroline Carbo and Heather Luedtke advanced with two victories. They topped Ellery Bresler and Breck Don on Havre 6-3, 7-5 and Emma Decker and Annie Sangler of Corvallis 6-3, 6-4.

Hardin, Corvallis and Billings Central share the top spot in the standings with 11 points each. Livingston, nine, is fourth, and Whitefish, six, fifth.

Columbia Falls and Havre are tied for sixth with four each.

On the boys side, Billings Central lead with 12 points. Glendive and Corvallis are tied for second with nine each.

Havre, eight, is fourth and Polson, seven, fifth.

Polson’s Brady Hislop won twice, downing Noble Vance of Livingston 6-1, 6-4 and Alma Powell of Corvallis 6-4, 6-2.
