COLUMBIA FALLS — The Columbia Falls Wildkats dropped a Northwestern A softball contest to Libby in extra innings on Thursday.

Libby first baseman Dayln Germany hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to score Mahalah Wedel from third, giving the Loggers a 2-1 lead.

The Wildkats couldn’t answer in the bottom half.

It was a pitchers’ duel throughout the game, as Wildkat ace Ashley Trueblood struck out 12 Loggers in eight innings of work, while scattering five hits.

Counterpart Hannah England struck out 10 Wildkats and gave up just six hits in an equally impressive performance.

Trueblood helped out her own cause at the plate. Her 1 for 3 effort included an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth that scored Tiffany Hummer to tie the game a one.

Madisen Monigold, Devon Gallagher, Kelsey Klin, Wedel and Germany had hits for the Loggers.

Winter Kemppainen, Peyton Kehr, Courtney Murray, Samantha Collins, Trueblood and Hummer tallied hits for the Wildkats.
