Polson hosts ABC invitational

POLSON — Andrew Weltz was the lone Polson athlete to win an event for the host team at the ABC Invitational, the Pirates’ last regular-season track meet of 2014.

The senior edged out a victory in the long jump, and the Polson boys finished fourth at the meet.

The Pirate girls placed third thanks to second-place finishes from Chloie Huerta (shot put), Claudia Hewston (800) and Tiara Duford (400). Kidron Lee, Madisen Wheeler, Lydia Bowman, Gracie Carlyle, Chadelle Smith, Mariah Corrigan, Erica Alfiero, Amanda Harrod and Anna Young all scored points as well.

Jacob Clairmont, Frank Pope, Jared Rubel, Danny DiGiallondardo, Mike Corrigan, Joe Gallatin and Joe Mullen contributed points for the boys.

Polson woman pleads not guilty to homicide

Danielle Jeanette Wood pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide during a video arraignment Tuesday before Lake County District Court Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher at the Sanders County Courthouse in Thompson Falls. Wood is charged with deliberate homicide in connection with the death of Thompson Falls resident Matthew LaFriniere in May 2018.
