Sandpoint welcomes new fire chief

SANDPOINT — Ron Stocking, a career firefighter of more than 30 years, will be the new Sandpoint fire chief starting June 2.

Council members unanimously approved a proposal by Mayor Carrie Logan to hire the Fullerton, Calif., division chief on Wednesday. Stocking will work with Fire Chief Robert Tyler, who retires at the end of the month, in taking over leadership of the department.
