Georgia Marie Hattenburg passed into the hands of the Lord on May 22, 2014.

Georgia was born April 4, 1935, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Pearl and George Schneberger of Coeur d’Alene. She was a lifelong resident of the Coeur d’Alene area. As a child, Georgia lived in Coeur d’Alene with her three siblings: Barbara, Mabel and Pat. When she was 9, the family moved to Rathdrum where her parents operated the Westwood Cafe.

At age 16, Georgia met the love of her life, Chester Hattenburg, at a turkey shoot in Rathdrum. When Georgia was in the 11th grade, her mother and father moved to Rose Lake where they operated the Beacon Café. Georgia moved with them and graduated from Kingston High School in 1952.

Georgia married Chet Hattenburg in 1953. They were married 59 years before Chester’s passing in 2012. Georgia and Chet lived in Twin Lakes, Hayden, and Bayview, retiring in Coeur d’Alene. She was a stay-at-home mother raising three boys and helping Chet run the Hayden Lake welding business in the 1960's and 1970's.

When the boys were raised, Georgia had a successful second career as a real estate agent in Coeur d’Alene. She was also a 56-year member of the Rebekah Assemblies, held all the offices, and was Past Noble Grand.

Georgia's life was centered around her family and activities with Chet. She was known for her generosity, kind heart, genuine affection for people, and chatty, outgoing personality. Georgia's favorite saying was that there are no strangers here, only friends she had not met yet. She enjoyed people, cooking, flower gardening, painting, garage sales, traveling, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Georgia and Chet spent more than 30 years at their winter home in Kino Bay, Mexico, on the Sea of Cortez.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Chet. She is survived by her sons: Randy Hattenburg (Bonnie), of Hayden, Idaho; Scott Hattenburg (Penny), of Chugiak, Alaska; and Russ Hattenburg (Carmen), of Palmer, Alaska; grandchildren: Dustin, Bryce, Brenna and Shelby Hattenburg Barlow and Ronnie Barlow of Alaska, Sara Hattenburg of Coeur d’Alene, Kylie Hattenburg Dupont and Jon Dupont of Coeur d’Alene; great-grandchild, Cameryn Hale; sister, Mabel; brother-in-law, Harley John Hattenburg and Linda Hattenburg, of Kingston; and sister-in-law Renabel Hawley and Richard Hawley, of Post Falls.?Georgia's love of family, enthusiasm, and kind heart will be sorely missed by all those she has touched. A service and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 21, at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
