SANDPOINT — One thing’s for sure: Lake Pend Oreille School District would be in rough shape without its volunteers, and school officials know it.

To thank supportive individuals across the district, they held a volunteer appreciation day Tuesday at Kootenai Elementary. The afternoon event allowed district staff to thank their volunteers for the impressive investment of time, talent and energy into the school district.

“You may not think of it as a huge investment, but we do,” said LPOSD superintendent Shawn Woodward.
