Whitefish sweeps NWA divisional track

FRENCHTOWN — It was all Whitefish on the final day of the Northwestern A divisional track and field meet on Saturday.
The Whitefish girls, led by triple winner Marlow Schulz and double winner Phoebe Guercio, earned first-place finishes in six of the 10 events on the final day and totaled 176 points.
Columbia Falls, who had two individual winners Saturday, was next at 157.
Polson, 135, finished third in the five-team field.
The Whitefish boys, led by double winner Jed Nagler, also won six of 10 events en route to a 216 team total.
Polson, 115, was a distant second followed by Columbia Falls, 103.
Schulz posted the top times in the 100 (12.51), 200 (25.86) and 800 (2:21.32).
On Friday, she won the 400 (57.06).
Garcia had the best distance in the long jump (17-1/2) and the fastest time in the 300 hurdles (47.28).
Nagler won the 100 (11.31) and high jump (6-2).
Columbia Falls had two individual winners on the last day — Samantha Mundel in the 3,200 (12:10.6) and Haley Belgarde in the shot put (33-10).
The Columbia Falls boys, with Mike Sandefer, James Ratzlaff, Ty Morgan and Josiah Osborne, won the 1,600 relay (3:33.86).
Whitefish’s other individual winners Saturday included Kate Dorn, high jump (5-0), Luke Cardon, 800 (2:02.60), Thomas Henson, 3,200 (10:49.65), Gage Smith, shot put (48-6) and Luke May, javelin (190-2).
Up next is the Class A state meet in Butte on Friday and Saturday.
